About Us

Our Vision

The pharmaHUB Engineering Virtual Organization for Pharmaceutical Engineering and Science (EVO-PES) will be the preeminent interdisciplinary resource for sharing and building the science and engineering base for innovative pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing.

Our Mission

pharmaHUB was created as an NSF-funded Engineering Virtual Organization with a mission to facilitate collaborative creation and sharing of information, knowledge and modeling tools that support innovations in product and process development and manufacturing methodology for pharmaceutical products. We will promote the joint creation and sharing of educational materials, modules and experiences at all degree levels for use in the education and training of engineers and pharmaceutical scientists in academia, industry and the FDA. pharmaHUB will draw on the R&D output of projects such as the Engineering Research Center - Structured Organic Particulate Systems (ERC-SOPS), the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Technology and Education (NIPTE), and the collective work of our colleagues in the field.

pharmaHUB leverages the cyberinfrastructure technology developed by HUBzero and is developing significantly enhanced new technology to support the highly regulated and data intensive environment within which pharmaceutical product development takes place.

Our Community

The interdisciplinary community that constitutes the constituency for pharmaHUB comprises academic researchers in engineering (especially, biological, chemical, materials and mechanical) and the sciences (especially, pharmaceutics, chemistry and applied biology) and their industrial and governmental counterparts, who are concerned with innovations in the science-based design of pharmaceutical products, the design of the associated robust production processes and the efficient computer-assisted management and control of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. This community seeks to develop the scientific understanding and engineering methodologies to bring high quality therapeutic products to the marketplace faster and at lower cost to the patient, replacing the current quality by inspection paradigm with a quality by design strategy.

The pharmaHUB web site is a resource for research, education and collaboration in pharmaceutical engineering and science, hosting various resources which will help you learn about your science area, including Publications, Animations, Learning Series, Online Presentations, and more.

Most importantly, pharmaHUB.org offers powerful research simulation tools which you can access from your web browser, so you can not only learn about but also simulate pharmaceutical engineering and science processes.

Join Us

Take a tour of our web site and see how you can use our infrastructure to further your own research and educational activities. Create your own account. It's free and will give you access to our online simulation tools and other features. Become a contributor by uploading your own presentations and simulation tools for others to share. Ask a question in our community forum, and let the community help you out.

Acknowledgments

pharmaHub is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation. The site is managed by the Pharmaceutical Technology & Education Center at Discovery Park, Purdue University and the HUBzero support team.
