Abstract

The Multipurpose Operation Production Planner (MOPP) is an Advanced Planning and Scheduling package (APS) constituting a flexible tool capable to assist the user (plant operator, educator, trainee, student) in decision making of production planning and detailed scheduling of complex systems. As such it can be used as a supporting tool for real, industrial size applications, for teaching purposes with examples of increasing complexity, for the students in self training mode (a tutorial is provided) and operators training. MOPP is specially useful in the pharmaceutical sector. It accepts the detailed recipe description, even if complex branched recipes are contemplated. The friendly input-output interface incorporates a Gantt chart where the detailed scheduling is shown including all kind of utilities profiles used along time (manpower, steam, electric power, vacuum, etc.) MOPP's functionalities include among others: simulation, optimization, real time rescheduling, batch identification & tracking, calendar, constrained inventory. A User's Manual including a step by step procedure is available.
