Abstract

This tool takes a set of user defined parameters to build a model tablet and then simulate its dissolution. The simulation is based on several levels of tablet fluid interaction. This is accomplished via a series of equations which describe the surface erosion, solvent penetration, particle dissolution and solute diffusion. These equations are mostly based on a modified version of Fick's second law and are calculated using a finite-differencing scheme. The simulation space is mapped using a fixed cartesian mesh. The location of the tablets surface is tracked using a level set approach. The proper boundary conditions are applied to the diffusion equations using a concentration ghosting method.
