Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Approaching Final FDA Approval in Near Future

The coronavirus pandemic has changed the world of health, as we know it, forever. It’s hard to believe that the pandemic began in January of 2020 with over a year and a half of time spent in lockdowns and restrictions. This period is coming to a close thanks to newly developed and manufactured vaccines.

The newly developed vaccines from companies like Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and AstraZeneca have made the spread of the coronavirus go down drastically. It’s been reported that over 43.2 billion doses of the vaccine have been administered with around 15% of the world’s population fully vaccinated.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has come out and said that they look to approve the vaccine by early September. With this, many wonder what this means for the vaccine and the country going forward in light of recent developments around the emerging Delta-variant. Here is where the Pfizer vaccine stands now and what its outlook is in the near future.

Where Pfizer’s Vaccine Stands Now

For a bit of background, Pfizer’s product is a two-dose vaccine against COVID-19 and expected variants. Their vaccine was authorized by the Food and Drug Administration on December 11th of 2020. This emergency authorization brought a bolstering of the biotech industry and market value.

The biotechnology industry saw immense growth due to the situation provided by the coronavirus. Biotech’s crucial role in the process of developing vaccines and treatments for the pandemic left the industry in a very secure place financially. The e-commerce industry also skyrocketed because Americans in lockdown were able to buy anything they needed from necessary food supplies to new hobbies. Sales of arts & craft, or hobby supplies, like an at-home epoxy kit, for example, have increased measurably.

Pfizer’s vaccine release was done through an emergency authorization and this authorization served as a major turning point for the pandemic. At this point, over 290,000 Americans had died due to the coronavirus and the vaccine distribution helped to curb the number of deaths dramatically. The curve started to trend downwards significantly after the rollout gained full seed in mid-February.

At the current moment, over 50% of the American population is vaccinated with more deciding to get vaccinated every day. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is estimated that over 600,000 deaths have been caused because of the virus. This dramatic number has driven companies like Pfizer towards getting fully approved to broaden their reach and to attain more of the public’s trust.

Now, an exact timeline for the approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has not been announced by the Food and Drug Administration. But, it is known that the FDA is currently working hard to work towards approving the Pfizer vaccine. The current speculation has placed a rough estimation for approval by Pfizer for around Labour Day, this upcoming September.

With recent news around the emerging Delta-variant and restrictions still being in place for unvaccinated people, the approval of the Pfizer vaccine could help to once and for all limit the majority of the coronavirus’ spread.

What Final Vaccine Approval Could Mean for Pfizer and the Country

Despite past struggles, the future's looking brighter for the American people and the world as a whole. Due to the conditions of the pandemic, the stock market is making a significant recovery after the uncertainty in the market. Biotechnology, overall, has grown expeditiously throughout the pandemic and is expected to grow to a high of $2.44 trillion by 2028 from here. This recent news around approval from the Food and Drug Administration will likely help to bolster and expand the size of the biotech industry going forward.

The world’s population stands to tremendously benefit from the approval of Pfizer’s vaccine by the FDA. With around 15% of the world’s population fully vaccinated, the approval of Pfizer’s vaccine could dramatically increase the number of people that are able and willing to receive the shot. Not only that, approval could also lead to more people in developing countries receiving the vaccine.

As for the health of the American people, this expected approval could help to dramatically increase the rate of vaccination in the United States. Around 50% of the American population has been reported as fully vaccinated. But, there remains a large portion of Americans that are choosing to not receive the vaccine. A great deal of this is attributed to skepticism on the vaccine’s effectiveness in light of the rushed job that was done by Pfizer to release it.

With this, it is important to realize the role of the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA is working tirelessly to approve the vaccine, but this is done with the highest quality possible. The FDA wants to make sure that the vaccine is truly safe for the population to receive as well as do it in a timely manner.
