Handmade by an Expert for Her Baby, These Soaps Are Just What Your Skin Needs

Most of the baby soaps that available in the market today contain artificial fragrances, synthetic colors, and additives. These chemicals might prove to be harsh for the tender and sensitive skin of your baby. Therefore, you need to ditch such soaps and try to make your baby soaps, shampoos, and body washes that are ideal for all types of skin. Also, a homemade soap with soap base can prove to be perfect for those who have sensitive skin.

Let us start with a simple oatmeal baby soap that is infused with natural herbs and some essential oils.

Ingredients

Olive Pomace oil

Chamomile herb - 2 tablespoons

Round soap mold

Shea butter

Castor Oil

Sodium hydroxide Lye

Distilled water

Bentonite Clay – 2 teaspoons

Colloidal Oatmeal – 2 teaspoons

Sodium lactate – 1 teaspoon (Optional)

Procedure

Here, we are trying to make a baby soap that is not only suitable for babies but also for the people who have sensitive skin. The key ingredient of this soap is Olive Pomace oil which contains the last drops extracted from the pulp that has already been used to extract the virgin oil.

Chamomile herb is infused in this soap due to its aromatic scent and numerous skin-friendly properties. Measure 14.5 Oz of Olive oil and pour it into a double boiler. Now, measure 2 tablespoons of Chamomile herb and add it into a sealable tea bag. Seal the teabag carefully and immerse it in the Olive Pomace Oil.

Keep it over medium flames for at least 2 hours and see to it that the oil does not get too hot. Add some extra Olive oil if necessary. Stir after every 15 to 20 minutes so that the oil gets absorbed completely in the teabag.

After that, remove the teabag and turn off the heat. Now take a glass jar or bowl and add 2 teaspoons of Bentonite Clay in 4 tablespoons of distilled water. It makes our organic handmade soap smooth and velvety.

In another vessel put 2 teaspoons of colloidal oatmeal. Do not use any artificial fragrance or preservatives as they can prove to be harsh for your skin.

However, you can add essential oil as per your preference to make your handmade soaps smell wonderful. Lavender essential oil or Chamomile essential oils are recommended due to their relaxing properties.

Caution:

Use longhand glows and goggles while making this soap to ensure safety and to protect your eyes. Choose an area that has enough ventilation while making handmade soaps and ensure that kids are not around you.

Now, combine Shea butter, Chamomile infused Olive oil and castor oil in a big container. Also, measure 1.9 oz of Lye and pour the oil mixture on it. You can also add one teaspoon of sodium lactate in this blend to facilitate the hardening process and it also acts as a preservative. However, the use of sodium lactate is completely optional.

After that, use a manual stick blender to stir and mix the oils properly with the Lye. Continue blending the oils for some minutes until they get completely infused in one another.

Now, add the colloidal oatmeal and other mixture you have made using the Bentonite clay and teabag. Stir and blend the mixture using the stick blender again.

Pour the combined mixture in soap molds and let them dry for at least a week. Remove them carefully from the molds after a week and your organic handmade baby soaps are ready to use.

Benefits

Olive oil stops the aging of the skin and acts as a natural moisturizer whereas Chamomile is known for its antibacterial, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties. It also reduces skin irritation to a great extent. As a result, your handmade soap will include all these skincare properties and therefore, will be an excellent soap for individuals who have sensitive skin.
