Introduction to API Process Simulation

By Kamal Kuriyan

Purdue University

Category Teaching Materials
Abstract

This module describes model building methods and tools that can be used to simulate unit operations in pharmaceutical API processes. The use of simulation tools is introduced through simulations of heat transfer and fed batch reaction. Models of unit operations are constructed from the balance equations and physical property relationships. Applications of models in optimizing unit operations and ensuring safe operation are presented.
